Depression...........

Still to depressed to blog about anything. I cant describe this depression... Its like i miss home and kuching at the same time, while overwhelmed by everyting.

More weird sms'es

After the first one, another one arrived today!

Too lazy to take a pic, but it says,and i quote "sayang........................" and a ton of words i have never heard off.

WTH is going on?

Weird SMS

With me being at the other end of the world, and no NZ number, you'd think I'd be safe from junk or weird SMS'es.

But no, I was woken up this morning with the sound of my handphone calling me! No one in NZ has my digi 016 H/p number, and in anycase, which of my friends is so rich as to SMS me all the way from M'sia?

But what do u make of this?

There u go! A 100% malaysian number. 016873****. That guy is going to be RM2 poorer !

The time stamp on the SMS is 11.50pm M'sian time. Some desprate guy pining for his girlfriend if u ask me.

I spent 12 years studying BM, and I still hav no idea what is that?

Anyone care to give me a hint?

Oh, BTW, legit and meaningful SMS'es from u guys are MUCH appreciated. Sometimes I wonder what all u guys r doin now.........

Settling in.........

I’ve just moved in to my homestay, and it has Broadband! Call me spoilt, but its nice to have BB! Finally, no worrying about dial up charges.

I’m sharing the place with a German boy. He seems friendly enough, but the ice hasn’t broken yet. Everyone here, including the German boy speaks with an accent, and it makes it difficult to understand them. I hav 2 concentrate when they talk.

I’ve been to my school. It’s a 20 min walk from where I stay. Its not too bad actually, since the weather here, even in summer is fairly cool and I’m wearing long sleeve shirts. But it’s the terrain that kills me! The terrain is hilly, so I hav to walk up the hill.Not just and run of the mill small hill (hey, that rhymes!) u get back home in kuching. It’s a real hill, and You’ll huff and puff just climbing it! Now imagine doing that everday. Every morning! The good thing is, everyone is doing the same thing. Almost everyone walks to school here! Not like home, where we’re all chaffured around by our parents. Here I have to walk. Not by my self through. I have the german guy to company me, and this morning walk is good to clear up my head anyway. So in a way, it’s a good thing.

The view of the place en route to the school, however, is just amazing for words. I cant describe it, so I’ll put a few pics. U can even see the skytower, Aucklands landmark from the top of the hill b4 I reach school.



As u can see from my “art” (hey, any better, I’ll be doing graphic design!), my house is just slightly down from the hill. I have to climb up a bit b4 I reach the peak of the hill. To school is fine, as its mostly down hill. Its back from school that scares me! I actually sweated while climbing the hill. And I think it was the first time I sweated here!

You see, the weather is dry here, so no matter how much heavy activity you do, you don’t sweat much, and if u do, it dries up in 10 mins or so. This is why I can wear the same shirt for 4 days, straight! I dun hav to wash my clothes all the time. Its not like home, where you’ll be mad to wear the same thing for more than 3 days straight. We wash daily rite?

School starts 2moro for me. It starts at 8am and ends at around 3 pm. I’ve got my time table, but I’m still a lot blur! I’m still not sure wat to expect for the first day. Still very blur, and I haven’t got my bearings yet. At least I noe the way to the school now. I just came back from buying my PE shirt and pants. 2moro is just the orientation. The real studying starts on Friday. Wish me luck. I’m going to need all the help!

Weather wise, its quite warm today. The sun heat peaks around 1pm, where its like home, without the humidity. But the temp drops rapidly by 5pm. At nite I go to bed in temps of 14C! Day it maxs out at 26C. And this is summer! Don’t talk about winter will ya…

I’m sitting under the sun trying to get some heat!

The difference!

I’m still tired and a bit sick from the flight over here, so this post will be more filled with pictures than I hoped. Saves me from typing a lot of words. Hey, a picture is worth a thousand words rite?

Its summer her now in NZ. “summer” is relative. While the Ang Mo’s (and naturalized non-ang mo’s) are walking around in shorts and thin T-shirts, I cant even think of even walking around in shorts! Its freezing! Yet, my “summer” school uniform calls for short shorts!

It isn’t so much as the sun as the wind. The sun is strong enough to keep anyone warm. It’s the wind that’s the problem. The wind is always cold! Its never warm. So when the wind blows on you, which is like everytime u step out of the house, u freeze!

Freezing is also relative to the time of the day. In the mornings, It’s the ice age until around 9.30am, b4 things start to heat up. The weather stays relatively warm until 7pm. After that, it starts to get cold. The sun only sets at 8.15pm here! Since we are in summer, its long days and short nites. The sun can come cracking above the horizon as early as 5am! Bloody hell, cant a guy get any sleep around here?

I’ve got a sore throat and a bit sick. Humidity is low. Yet, if u live here u need to wipe the sink everytime u use it. The sink can grow moldy quickly, coz its made out of wood (The surrounding of the toilet sink, not the washbasin it self). There is never a problem of wet toilets here, coz its so dry, it just takes 10 mins for a wet shower area to dry up! Girls who need dry public toilets will love this place! Oh, and their public toilets are as clean as those in the 4 star hotels in kuching. Yet, there are all FREE!
