Was watching the news as usual when there was an item on Anwar Ibrahim being interviewed by SBS.

I don't know about you, but he sounds confused. He starts off talking about his charges of sodomy, part 2, calling them "trumped up charges", and a "conspiracy" to deny him his "right" to serve as a political and opposition leader. Fair enough. Evidence is a bit dodgy.

But then he goes off into the Malaysian courts and legal system, calling the Attorney-General chambers and the police "corrupt". If he is trying to imply he's not going to get a fair trial, just say so damnit!

When asked why the allegations of sodomy have persisted for so long, Anwar answers "we" (I presume he means the unholy alliance of Pakatan Rakyat) "are for freedom and democracy" with a independent and fair judiciary. While I admit that Malaysia is a bit low on the corruption index, from Anwar's words I still do not understand why the allegations of sodomy against him are still there after all these years.

Anwar rightly replies that it is for Malaysians to decide if he is to become the Prime Minister one day, but starts rambling on the failure to take power on 16 September 2008 is because Malaysia is not Australia or the UK or Indonesia or Turkey. In other words, Anwar describes Malaysia as "not democratic" and not like the countries he listed, so he could not come into power.

He cites he "had the numbers", but because Malaysia is "undemocratic", we cannot have a smooth transition of power, because then Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi didn't want to see him, and the Speaker of the House refused the tabling of a motion of non-confidence. The Malaysian parliament is "not Canberra or the House of Commons, and people have to understand that" it is the reason why Pakatan Rakyat never became the government of Malaysia.

Personally he sounded like he was sprouting gibberish. Essentially, the blames for the non-existence of a Pakatan Rakyat government on:
a) Malaysia is not UK and Australia
b) The Malaysian parliament is not Canberra or the House of Commons


It was just weird, to be honest.

Odd things in the Malaysian Immigration

This has come to my attention.

Its the FAQ page of the Malaysian Immigration department. Its generally normal'ish ("How long does it take to process a Passport Application?"), but there are a few odd questions, which I wonder, how many of them do they get to actually warrant the label of "Frequently asked question"?

And I thought mail order Vietnamese brides were a Singaporean thing.

And some just don't make sense:
